Creating Backlinks

Note: This article was previously published by Helium.com under my name, of course. But I've made some modifications and revisions for highest quality possible for this blog. For whose rights this article belongs to is basically me.

You always hear the word backlinks and you might be asking how important these really are for bloggers. Well, backlinks are only important if you are trying to increase your blog’s visibility from other bloggers and if your blog is still new, say a six-month to a-year-old blog, and want to increase your readership. Some seasoned bloggers don’t have to keep on creating them, especially for those high-ranking ones, because the links that point toward their sites are already adequate and permanent since their blogs are already popular. But for other bloggers and to those who are still trying to get a PR of five and above, backlinks are still a practice, if not a must.

Backlinks are actually links or placement of a site's URL to other related sites. These are incoming or inbound links that point toward your site from other sites. The more quality backlinks you create, the more they significantly help your blog’s visibility. Backlinks can be made through making comments on other blogs or sites that promote the same niche as yours.

You can either put your name along with your URL and comment on a post which is relevant to the page where you want to link to, or put HTML tags or anchor text wherein a particular keyword links to your related post or home page. Backlinks can also be created through blog directories submission on the Internet, and engaging in forums, discussions, reviews, and other social media related marketing.

But you might ask what quality backlinks are and what are not?

High Quality Backlinks

Quality backlinks are incoming links that are coming from high-ranking sites that offer the same product or service that your blog offers. In other words, quality backlinks should be coming from a high PR (Page Rank) site related to your niche. Submission of URLs to blog directories can also be considered high quality backlinks as long as the links are coming from blog directory sites that are already popular on the Internet.

Low Quality Backlinks

Low quality or no-quality backlinks are links from sites that have lower PR than your own, and worse if the links come from sites which have no PR at all or zero page rank.

You can also acquire low quality backlinks if these are from sites not related to your site's niche or sites that are banned by Google. If for instance, you are still yet to acquire a PR, it is still wise to make backlinks from sites that already have PRs; 3 to 8 PR sites can be much better. It is very important to make sure that the backlinks you create are of hi-quality.

The Importance of Hi-Quality Backlinks

Creating quality backlinks can mean that your page is valuable to readers who want to find other relevant and reliable information from other reputable sites. Once your backlinks are placed in many high-ranking sites which are visited by a thousand visitors a day, your site will create more audience to a higher level. In addition, hi-quality backlinks will increase traffic and page rank to search engines. Once your blog's or site's ranking and traffic increases, it can easily be found by users in search engines, particularly Google. And if this happens, you will earn money more than you can expect through advertisements.
