Web Content, Journalism and Literature

With the many kinds of writing, some writers believe that each and every medium is different from the other. They believe that Journalism is different from Literature, and that Creative Writing is not the same as Technical Writing.
News, features, opinionated essays, and fiction have their own voices and that one can never be applied to the other. The same goes with Web content writing.

Some writers think that content writing is a medium that is totally different from other common types of writing. While this is actually true because of the keywords used in each content, and the manner of advertising products and information, this is not entirely the case when talking about the real essence of writing.

Web content is one form of communication; all forms of writing are ways of communication. They need to be engaging. A Web content is created for the same purpose that a TV commercial needs a speaker. Novels and newspaper articles have their own speakers too.

Be it a personal essay, an editorial article, or a web content, writing has the same set of goals to achieve: to affect readers. An attractive first sentence and an engaging flow of paragraphs are all applied in all forms of writing. Although certain rules have to be followed and certain styles have to be applied in every form, writing is something you simply need to figure out what you’re talking about.

So there aren’t really any differences to all forms of writing. It is just the manner that some writers think that they are not because of their dilemma on what style or voice to use. But when it comes to telling the readers what you mean, all types of writing are all the same.

Philippine national artist Nick Joaquin had once said, “When you consider writing in a higher sense, it is something you have to stand in awe with the wonders of it. This simply means that all types of writing should be treated with admiration and respect. All you need to have is a good command in English.

Say as it is, and the verse from your mouth will go naturally.
